Model made from almost entirely from self-sourced, basic materials. Certain items manufactured by others are allowed, such as metal chain, decals, photo-etched parts, rigging blocks.

Dorothy

Built in 1891, Dorothy is the first ship constructed by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company of Newport News, Virginia.

F.D. Crockett

Log-built Chesapeake Bay buy boat constructed in 1924 by Alexander Gains in Seaford, Va. for Ferdinand Crockett. Restored by the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in Deltaville.

Echo, HMS

HMS Echo was a 16-gun sloop-of-war launched in 1782 and broken up in 1797.

City of Monroe

A conjectural design of a typical 1880’s steam packet of the Mississippi River tributaries. Built from plans by James Haley, which are an adaptation of a larger vessel.

Tortuga, USS (LSD-46)

USS Tortuga is a Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship of the US Navy. the second to be named for the Dry Tortugas.

Winder Engine

Dredge winder engine and winch, built while restoring a model of Willie Bennett.

Philadelphia (Gundalow)

Philadelphia was a gunboat manned by Continental Army soldiers during the Battle of Valcour Island (Lake Champlain), October 1776.

The Saint Lawrence Skiff is native to the Thousand Island region, where it served both recreational and commercial purposes.

Monitor, USS

First Union ironclad of the American Civil War.  Fought famous battle with the first Confederate ironclad ‘Virginia’ here in Hampton Roads – the first battle between two iron ships.
