About the Vessel
Virginia was a pilot boat designed by naval engineers Cox and Stevens and built by A.C. Brown & Son of Staten Island, New York in 1916. She was modeled after the America’s Cup competitors of the day. Originally built with no engines, she was later fitted with two 75 hp diesel engines.
She was sold several times and ultimately reported as “stranded.”
