About the Vessel

CSS Atlanta was converted from the British merchant Fingal. Captured by the monitors USS Weehawken and USS Nahant in Wassaw Sound, Georgia, on 17 June 1863, it spent the rest of the war in the United States Navy as part of the James River Flotilla.
