About the Vessel
The vessel is not an actual one, but an example by James Haley of what a small steam packet of about 1880 might have looked like. These smaller steamers worked the tributaries of the Mississippi and also carried general cargo between smaller cities on the larger river. Haley states the plans are adapted from the “America”, which was a much larger (273’) vessel of that time.
About the Model
Scratch build from plans by James Haley in about 1971. The model is 1:64 scale, and about 36” LOA.
