About the Vessel

Calcaterra was an Edsall-class destroyer escort built for the U.S. Navy during World War II. Commissioned in late 1943, she made 8 round trips as a convoy escort before the war ended. Post-war, she was refitted as radar picket ship, serving in the North Atlantic.

The model maker, Peter D.H. “David” Tagg, served on the Calcaterra.
