About the Vessel
Huntington was built in 1933 by apprentices of the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (Newport News, Virginia) and named for the shipyard’s founder, Collis Potter Huntington. Huntington was a museum ship after retirement, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. She was removed from that list some years after being scrapped.
