First Union ironclad of the American Civil War.  Fought famous battle with the first Confederate ironclad ‘Virginia’ here in Hampton Roads – the first battle between two iron ships.

Second pilot boat named Virginia. Originally the yacht Pawnee, designed by naval engineers Cox and Stevens. Commissioned by the Virginia Pilots Association in 1932, she remained in VPA service until 1971 when she was relieved by a third Virginia.

A ‘Mariner 39’ named after famed marine biologist

Three models built to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Lyon Shipyard, formerly Moon Shipyard and Repair Corporation.  ‘Mariner’ was one of their early tugs.
