Late Sail / Early Steam

Old Point

1909 log-built crab dredger. Old Point also hauled freight fish in the summer and carried oysters during the fall. Part of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Bufflehead

Replica Chesapeake Bay’s racing log canoe built in 2014 from 1893 plans. Part of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Edna E. Lockwood

A National Historic Landmark, and the oldest sailing log-bottom bugeye, built in 1889. Part of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Delaware

A wooden tugboat built in built in 1912 – a rare example of a typical early 20th century wooden river tug. Part of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Baltimore

The oldest steam-powered tugboat in the United States. Built in 1906. Part of the Baltimore Museum of Industry.

Wm. B. Tennison

Bugeye, converted to power c. 1908. Part of the Calvert Marine Museum.

Olympia, USS (C-6)

1892 cruiser – the oldest steel warship afloat in the world. Part of the Independence Seaport Museum.

Jupiter

1902 tug. Part of the Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild.

Gazela

c. 1901 barkentine. Part of the Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild.

Priscilla

1888 oyster sloop. Part of Long Island Maritime Museum.
